Mack Grout

Musician, Educator, Founder

Based in Seattle, Washington, I am a pianist, composer, educator, and founder of Seattle Jazz Academy. My work centers on performance, jazz education, and building musical communities that help people grow as artists and individuals.

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and have spent most of my life studying, performing, and teaching music. From an early age, I was drawn to the piano and the creative possibilities it offered, eventually leading me to pursue formal studies in both performance and composition. Over the years, my work has taken me from concert halls and jazz clubs to classrooms, recording studios, and community spaces, each experience shaping my understanding of music as both an art form and a means of connection.

Today, I divide my time between performance, composition, arts education, and leading Seattle Jazz Academy, a jazz conservatory dedicated to helping musicians develop their craft and find their own voice. Through private instruction, ensembles, workshops, and community programs, I continue to explore ways that music can bring people together, encourage creativity, and foster lifelong learning. Whether working with beginning students or experienced professionals, I remain inspired by the process of growth, discovery, and artistic expression that music makes possible.
